A better understanding of how divergent user groups within a city feel
about parks and recreation planning, usage, and implementation is critical
to today’s departments. Public opinion research is a tool that has
been successfully utilized to better understand and address the needs
of its citizenry. In addition, findings from surveys have been instrumental
in assisting departments in obtaining grants from state and federal agencies.
Parks and Recreation Departments
have utilized the public opinion services of Raymond Turco & Associates
to assist them in the following areas:
Evaluating opinions of diverse respondent
groupings relative
to new park construction, usage patterns and prioritization
of new facilities, necessary to obtain grants from state and federal agencies
Determining support for new capital improvement projects
Determining recreation programming participation
Evaluating customer satisfaction with parks and recreation maintenance
and upkeep
Analyzing communication strategies and how to get message to the public
Providing statistically accurate public input into Parks and Recreation
planning and implementation processes
Assisting City Councils in decision-making process by providing public input
